Park Hyatt

In the heart of the bustling Deira district, nestled behind the busy streets, sits a tranquil haven, commonly known as Park Hyatt Dubai.

Built with an exterior that brings to mind Morocco, with white-washed walls and hues of blue, its interior is more contemporary with a subtle Arabian feel. Check-in is generally slow, so take the time to admire the grand crystal light and 25m pool sitting amongst super-tall palm trees. Don’t even consider hauling your luggage any further than the front desk! A 10 Dhs tip to the porter is well worth it, as you virtually need a personal GPS just to find your room.

The most acclaimed attribute, the stunning backdrop of the Dubai Gold & Yacht Club, is showcased from the terrace of each of the 225 rooms. Inside, open-plan rooms have a clean, modern feel with teak-wood finishes, LCD TV screens, DVD players, and high-speed Internet. The icing on the cake has to be the egg-shaped bath adorned with an aromatic candle.

As hard as it is to leave the serenity of your room, indulge yourself in a culinary journey of the world (you’ll certainly work up an appetite walking the spacious property in search of the 6 restaurants and bars). With a choice of Thai, European, and Arabic cuisine, innovative open-plan kitchens guarantee an injection of drama and theatre into your dining experience. Unfortunately Café Arabesque doesn’t have anything to entertain you while you wait 45 minutes for 3 beers. Similar service can be expected at breakfast. After asking four waiters, I finally received my coffee. It seems the waiters are pre-programmed, and the waiter offering juices dare not serve coffee, or the coffee server dare not take your egg order, this does not compute in their system and may create confusion.

Along with great restaurants, the hotel also offers a plethora of activities to entice and amuse you. From the 24 hour state-of-the-art gym, the 18-hole golf course, flood-lit driving range to the Amara day spa, with 8 private treatment rooms which feature private gardens, so peaceful you will forget you’re in frenetic Dubai.

The Park Hyatt Dubai is a great hotel for couples wanting to get away from it all and indulge... in each other. The scene is set.

Room Service: Coffee 16 Dhs ($4 US)/ Club Sandwich 50 Dhs ($14 US)/ Spaghetti Bolognaise 50 Dhs ($14 US)/ Glass of Penfolds Koononga Hill Shiraz Cabernet 45 Dhs ($12 US) bottle 185 Dhs ($50 US)
