Friendly staff but the hotel needs work!

I hate to start out negative but here it goes. The carpet in my room was severely stained and needed replacing as well as the fabric on the lounge chair and ottoman. The bathtub had old dirt rings and the toilet had rust stains. The towels were hard too. The room had a stale odor for a non-smoking room and the ceiling fan was heavily laced with dust. I didn't want to turn on the fan due to so much dust and I was almost worried about sleeping in the bed for fear of bed bugs. I managed anyway. The lamp shades were stained with rusted rims and the TV stand had missing knobs. Next, the buffet service for dinner was late by an hour; or two: the staff didn't seem to know the correct time. The ice machine on the fifth floor was broken my entire stay; I had to keep going to the fourth floor. The vending machine was also meagerly stocked and staff wasn't aware they even had one in the hotel. The elevator also had a hiccup; it would light up at the fifth floor but would let you out on the fourth floor. I woke up to a great view of the water but I never saw anyone swimming at the beach which is across from the hotel nor did I see anyone at the the hotel pool. The hotel is in a great spot; the fish fry shacks are to the left and the straw market, Senor Frogs, and ferry boats to Atlantis are to the right. Overall I had fun and would visit the Bahamas again, just at a cleaner upgraded hotel! Happy trails.

would recommened

our stay was really pleasant here. the ladies at the front of the hotel were very friendly and funny. the entire hotel staff was very nice to us...weren't aware of the $1 you had to pay though for every phone call we made, but was okay since we didn't make a whole bunch. it's within walking distance to just about everything. could be cleaner, but forunetly we had an okay room.

OK location, decent value

Hotel is on the street across from the beach. I had not expected much, based on the reviews, and so was not disappointed. The room was clean, although the carpet needed replacing.

Could have been worse!

After having read the reviews here I was very hesitant about going to this hotel. True, cleanliness is not at all up to the Northern European standards that I'm used to, and furniture and fixtures were very worn. The overall impression was shabby. The carpet in our room was disgusting, like that stuff you see on How Clean is Your House. There's a lot of noise from traffic and A/C and one of the three pools was out of use. But I had earplugs so could sleep OK. However, the hotel location is good, a short walk from Downtown and Lighthouse beach is right across the road. The staff was friendly and we got to check in immediately when we arrived around noon. We also got to store our luggage for free when we left. There's taxis right outside. s a great character and will tell you all about the Bahamas. But make sure to agree on the fare before jumping in. The breakfast that is included in the room price was continental in style, lots of sweet pastries and muffins. The coffee was horrible though and the coffee pot looked like no-one ever cleaned it. But if you're not too fussy about where you stay then this hotel is OK. Although next time I will check in somewhere more expensive and nice!

Never in my life would I recommend this place!

My friends and i booked a week stay at this hotel last May and we were told it was close to downtown and anywhere else you would want to go.Upon arrival we were told about a $10 a day maid charge we knew nothing about and im sure that was a waste of our money because our room was dirty the shower bottom was black! We had bugs crawling all over the place and the floor had stains all over it.The pools were green and disgusting! After the 3rd day i was ready to leave and looked for a flight home. That same day we came home from the beach and the water was shut off in the building. When we asked the front desk they said they didnt know when the water would be turned back on! I was not having that so I asked for a manager and they said there wasnt one available so I asked for a number to call. After they realized how serious I was they lead me to the office of their General Manager (its the first door in the hallway leading to the bar) We expressed our concern to him and showed him the bugs and what not in the room. He said he could take some money off our bill. I told him to credit the next 4 days because I was leaving for the airport that I wouldnt stay another night in his hotel. Eventually we got moved to their sister hotel Paradise Island Harbour Resort on Paradise Island. You would never Believe the difference in the hotels. Very clean and heavenly! We spent the rest of our vacation their on the hotels tab.
