The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, upgraded our rooms, no charge. The food was great, service wonderful. Everyone was so nice and jumped through hoops to make our stay very pleasant. We endured Tropical Storm Julio and the activities director made sure that there was still things to do on the rainy day. We were never bored. There were repairs going on with the swim up bar, but that did not interfere with our stay. The beds were a bit hard for my liking but housekeeping quickly brought a mattress topper which helped. Service was top notch from the check-in to the food service to the activities, nothing was wrong with this hotel. I would stay there again and again. We had 9 in our party from 83 to 19 and everyone had a great time. No complaints from anyone and with this group that is very unusual. There was not a crowd and plenty of chairs around the pool. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. We did go the last of August when school was starting, but it was perfect timing for us. Nightly entertainment was different every night and again, something for everyone. Great trip!! One down side, the fitness center was not good. Treadmills didn't work and no one there to help with any of the equipment. It is located in the spa area which is owned by a different entity than the hotel. Our 1 bad experience.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Melia Cabo Real. The facility was nice and well maintained. The rooms had marble floors and bathrooms. The pool was pretty. The hotel is right on the ocean and in front of the hotel is a portion that is swimable. Not many hotels have swimable beaches there. I really enjoyed being able to go into the Sea of Cortez and not just the pool.
I thought the food was pretty good. I ate at the mediteranean restaraunt one night and thought it was excellent. The service was outstanding. People are not waiting around for tips; they are just offering excellent service. Something we are not used to in the states.
The only caveat was getting into town. It's quite far from town and cab rides are $ each way. I think if you pay for excursions though transportation is included.

When we checked in they tried to give me a garden view room and I had been guaranteed an ocean front. After I showed them my confirmation of the ocean front room the front desk tried to charge me $68 per child extra. The pool was dirty and the lounge chairs were 80% old and broken. The food was bad and the restaurants dirty. I would never stay at this place again! It is an all inclusive yet every one of the staff is waiting around for a tip.

We travel a lot to Mexico and Caribbean and this was by far our best stay in Mexico for the money. The hotel is meticulously maintained and the staff was very friendly and curteous. The grounds were kept immaculately and there were always employees cleaning, painting, etc. We were very impressed with the staff and the facility. One thing we would have liked to have had at the hotel was more nightlife. The property is very low key, so depending on what you want to do, you should consider that. We traveled into the city for the nightlife. One other challenge is that it is about a 15 minute taxi ride from Cabo San Lucas. On one hand, it can get expensive paying for a cab everytime to transport you to and from town, but on the other hand, it is kind of nice that the hotel is farther out of the city. We did not ride the hotel provided shuttle as the times it ran just did not fit in our schedule. The food was excellent and we tried all 3 of the restaurants, plus the buffet. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet as you can dine in the open air and watch the whales (depending on the time of year). We would definitely stay at the Melia Cabo Real again!

We just returned from the Melia and can't stop talking about the this place. It was the perfect distance from the city of Cabo, which we found very noisy, dusty and had alot of construction, but we did find quite a few really cool places to stop for a cocktail. However, the Melia was clean and picture perfect. The rooms were always clean, but the beds are a bit on the firm side. The food was pretty good at the buffet especially breakfast where they had everything you could want. Our dining experience at La Terraza and Kujira were great, the food is excellent and we did not have to wait very long for a table, maybe 20 minutes tops. Make sure you order 3 or 4 things off of these menus, as the portions are small. The evening were a little chilly, but if you are prepared and know the weather before you go you should be fine, we never needed anything more than a light jacket. This place has alot of activities during the day such as water aerobic classes, zip line, beach walks, spanish lessons, pottery and jewelry making clases, and pool volleyball. Cocktail service was a little slow around the pool during the last few days of our stay, but our favorite waitress, Elena, was off those days. We were able to book our activities, such as fishing, ATV's and the whale watching cruise that we took on the Bucaneer Quenn (which I highly recomend) in one place right at the resort. We loved this resort because it had everything you could want under one roof, and it was a safe and clean place to enjoy our vacation. We will be returning to Cabo and the Melia in the future.
