This hotel is absolutely beautiful. You feel like you are in an old Spanish villa. The room was beautiful, with a canopy bed and lots of Spanish charm. I would defintely stay here again.

This hotel was built in 1505 and has obviously undergone extensive renovation. It is A+++, one of the finest hotels I've ever stayed at. And its location is superb in the historic district. The service is unbeatable.

Located in the heart of the Zona Colonial (Colonial Zone), the original district of the Dominican Republic's capital, this hotel is renovated and expanded property built around the residence of the city's earliest colonial governor, for whom it remains named. Interior courtyards of fountains, lush gardens, surrounded by rough-cut stone Romanesque interior walkways, rooms with high, slanted wood-beamed ceilings, flag-stoned floors throughout and interior design that evoke the building's 16th century origins, all contribute to an ambience and memory you will find special to any hotel experience anywhere in the Americas. The modern amenities and first-class dining are also all there, but it's the location at the center of this restored historic quarter, plus the loving attention to detail throughout Sofitel Nicolas de Ovando that you will savor and take away with you.
