Nice Hotel Bad Location

The Hilton is located about 15 minutes away by taxi to the city centre. It's too bad because the hotel itself is modern and very nice. The location is more of a residential area not where you would expect a big chain hotel.
Rooms are very good size, modern with new furniture. Breakfast is fantastic in the restaurant with a huge selection offered buffet style. It's a bit pricey 25EUR per person.
Staff are very professional and speak English, French, and German.
There are some charming shops around the corner from the hotel, the kind you picture in a small town. You'll find a dry cleaners, grocery stores, pharmacy, gourmet fine food shops, wine stores, bakery's. So it's good in that respect, but you get bored after a couple of days.
I wouldn't stay here again as I found I spent too much money on taxi's to the city centre. Not a good location if you want to see the sights.

First impression was mixed. Impressive reception area but front desk personnel had poor attitude. Room clean, comfortable, and small. Stayed 3 nights and empty bottle of water only replaced once (end of 2nd day despite being emptied the first night). Excekkent breakfast buffet but dinner menu limited. All in all not what I'd expect from a Hilton.
Excellent Hotel for Holiday or Business

Incredibly friendly and accomodating staff went out of their way to make my stay at the Hilton exceptional. The hotel is in a very nice neighborhood that is a bit outside of the busy Centrum section of Amsterdam, but is a 5-10 min tram ride to almost everywhere you would want to go. The hotel also offers free bicycle rentals on a first come first serve basis to guests (not sure if it was free because I was on the executive club floor, or if it is free to everyone), and was able to get anywhere by bike within 10-15 mins.
The executive club floors give you access to a really nice rooftop lounge that offers a long and very nice breakfast every day, followed by a long and very generous cocktail hour that includes a significant amount of hors d'oeuvres.
The back of the hotel has two bars (one indoor one outdoor) that face onto a nice marina in the canal. There is also a restaurant and gym, neither of which I had the opportunity to try, as well as some other smaller shops and cafe.
The room was not exceptional in terms of size and style, but was still very nice, very comfortable, modern with some exceptional views of the city. I would definitely stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone traveling to Amsterdam.

The person I spoke to in making arrangements couldn't have been more helpful or nicer. The hotel was in a quiet, residential area about a 20 minute walk from the nearest museums or areas of interest. They did have bike rental, which helped. Staff were unbelievably friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
