Great price, good location, clean, quiet, decent sized room and helpful front desk. I liked the mini refridgerator in the walk in closet. I plan to stay there again.

I have no idea what these other reviewers were smoking when they wrote their reviews, but this place was not acceptable. Key cards consistently lost their memory, rooms reminded me of my first apartment (age, smell, furnishings). Not recommended unless this is all you can afford.

We took our two daughters (7 and 12) to SF for three days/4 nights. Hotel was perfect location. Stayed in one of the renovated rooms up top. Older and simple, but lots of charm. Almost all staff were fantastic. We had a great time and you can't beat the price.

The Commodore Hotel

The Commodore Hotel is located in the heart of Union Square, right on eclectic and luxurious Sutter Street. Stepping in from the street, the Neo-Deco lobby, reminiscient of a 1920's luxury liner with its circus-style patterns and fun colors, creates a warm welcome for weary travelers.

The Commodore, which offers 109 guestrooms featuring walk-in closets, full tubs and showers, cable TV, dataports and voice mail, is also home to the Red Room cocktail lounge, a New York-style bar and lounge with, you guessed it, red walls and deep couches for the trendy crowd. Mornings are brightened with breakfast at the Titanic Cafe and the realization that you're right in the middle of the city- you might even want to sleep in a little later.

The staff is helpful and professional, rooms are promptly readied for your return, and the casual atmosphere is perfect for young travelers looking for affordable but elegant accommodations. The Commodore, just one in a collection of hotels by the Joie de Vivre Hotel Group, is worth a look: www.thecommodorehotel.com
