My son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters ages 10 and 13 had a wonderful stay at the Donatello. The rooms were large and very well maintained. The staff, from every vantage point was excellent in providing the best of care. While we would have liked to have had adjoining rooms with access from inside the rooms, they did not offer. We would definitely like to go back and would highly recommend. The location is just one block off Union Square. We had a rental car and parking was at the hotel. One price for going and coming at will (plus tips of course, but we expect that). Happy traveling.

A quick ride (about 25 mins) on the BART from SFO Airport, and a short walk (about 5 mins)and you are at the Donatello. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They provided maps and suggestions on how to get around town, and things to do. Housekeeping was excellent, with turn-down service at night. Our room had a small referigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, etc. Very comfortable, spacious and clean room. There is a small fitness center upstairs with a treadmill, stepper, etc. and some weight machines. The Mason Cafe 1/2 Block to the south has excellent food and service. Johnny Foleys (Irish Pub) around the corner has great service, food and draft beers. We didn't eat at the Donatello, we only had appetizers at the Bar, which were good. My wife and I felt safe walking around at night since there are always a lot of people around, and the Donatello is near all the shopping you can handle. Getting around town is easy, since the Donatello is close to all of San Francisco public transportation (BART, Muni, Cable Cars, Bus, etc). A short 5 minute walk and you are at Market/Powell where the BART, MUNI, Cable Cars, F-Line, and Busses all stop. We went to Oakland for a Baseball game; the BART takes you right McAfee Stadium. We also went to a Giants game; the MUNI takes you right to the AT&T Stadium.

I stayed here to run in the NIKE half-marathon that starts at Union Square. The hotel rooms were beautiful, modern, and spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were a block from Union Square. The only negative (which was far outweighed by the great price) was the noise at night. Granted it was a Saturday night, but you could hear car horns and city noise all night. I wore ear plugs which helped a lot (I would highly recommend them). I will definitely stay here again next time I am in SF.

The Donattello is a great hotel for the price. The rooms are large and the hotel personnel are all extremely helpful. The location is perfect for walking to the Square or to catch a trolley. Lot of restaurants nearby. The hotel has a small but adequate gym along with a locker room area with steam sauna. There is also a small coed jacuzzi.
