Opus Hotel

The pleasure of the Opus Hotel. If I could live there, I would. The hotel has 4 room "personalities", each with its own user profile. Personally, I enjoyed pretending I was "Dede - the Hollywood Actress." Pretty much this boils down to what the color scheme for the room is and what room features are available. Dede's is all cool beige. Neato. We stayed in Bob and Carol's room (a.k.a. the room for old people who like luxury). I am not old, but I do like luxury so the radiant heated floors and ultra deep bathtub were like heaven to me.

Downstairs is a club/restaurant with excellent decor and pretty good food. Lots of lovely people watching - many hot young things doing the "my heals are too tall for walking" dance which consists of swaying while keeping those feetsies firmly planted. And best of all - the "personality concierge" people who who tell you what to do and where to go based on which of the room "personalities" you most identify with.

Awesome.

This ultra-chic boutique hotel located in hip Yaletown is *the* cool place to stay in Vancouver. Don't be surprised to see celebrities staying here. The rooms are very well designed in a modern decor; the bathrooms are as cool as they come, stocked with L'Occitane En Provence soaps and lotions. There is a cocktail lounge downstairs, and a pretty nice bistro restaurant on premise. The location is right across the street from the Yaletown warehouse blocks, where more coolness awaits you in shops and restaurants. The only glitch was that we arrived really late (past midnight), and no room with a king-size bed was available, even though we booked it. Instead, they gave us an upgrade to a suite, but it only has a queen bed. Can't really blame them for the situation, I suppose. This is definitely the luxury place to stay if you aren't into the stuffy "Old World" ambience.
