The "Lindenhof" is part of the old town of Zurich (if you're coming from the main station, it's on the left side of the Limmat). Situated on a small hill, you've got a beautiful view over the Limmat and the old town. It's one of the oldest places in Zurich (already the Romans used this place as the centre of their village) and definitely worth seeing.

The Lindenhoff

Zürich is situated on both shores of the Limmat river. Old Town is said to have begun at the Am Lindenhofe, which is where you too might have begin your orientation to the city. It is situated on the top of the hill and is the architectural center of historic Zurich. A Linde is a tree and the the Lindenhof was built originally by the Romans...

The Lindenhoff

The Lindenhoff is full of lime trees and is now a wonderful, quiet park. We learned that there has been a building ban in that square since the Middle Ages as it is considered to be the true birthplace of Zurich and the center of the city. The view is absolutely wonderful and serene, and you can take your time identifying important buildings across the river like the Grossmunster (the two tower church) which was said to have been donated by Charles the Great to Zurich many hundreds of years ago.
