Upon entering, we were led into a hallway where we were asked to remove our shoes and any leather objects. We were then led into the main temple. Our guide explained that the temple was as old as the Red Fort. The Moghals recognized the temple's beauty and spared it from destruction.
On the first floor are numerous idols made from precious stones and metals. Every morning, the statues are bathed in milk. The walls are covered in beautiful colors. The upstairs walls are covered in a more modern mosaic of mirrors and glass depicting various religious scenes. It's simply breathtaking to see the play of light and color.
It's hard to believe you're in Chandni Chowk when you're in this temple. It is so peaceful, clean, and beautiful. If you get a chance -- go! You won't regret it. You can learn more at Jain Temple in the Naughra Lane, Kinari Bazar. My only regret is that I wish I had taken pictures.
