  • An all around great hotel!

Quote: Great location to all the sights. Metro and trolley right on the next block and minutes away from all the major sights. The hotel is on the modern style, lots of glass everywhere. The lobby staff was very helpfull and spoke engish perfectly. Big breakfast buffet included in the package could not be beat as far as selection. Room was comfortable and bathroom was large. The only minor problem was the glass enclosure around the toilet. It makes it feel like a phone booth. Hint turn the light on at night or you might walk into the glass doors. With the light on it might bother your guest since the light shines onto the bed. An all around great hotel! Ask the desk for an umbrella it always comes in handy.

Quote: Great hotel! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Very cool euro style...for example a thick frosted glass door for the bathroom. Ulra modern bright lobby. Breakfast was buffet style and terrific with a huge selection of outstanding food. The people at the front desk were nice and spoke English well. The only complaint I had is that it was too hot in the room and the AC was pretty useless. The location was good, lots of public transportation outside. Watch out for the bums congregating on the sidewalks in front of the hotel at night when you return.

Quote: We stayed at the Andels Design Hotel, which is located just outside of the main city centre in an area called Andels, Prague 5. The hotel opened last year and consists of both regular hotel accommodations and apartments for short and long stays.

The hotel room rate is around 150€ per night, but if you shop around on the Internet, there are some good buys around, although I would avoid webreservations.com, as they didn’t forward our booking to the hotel, although Andels was VERY helpful in sorting this out!

The rooms all feature either one king-size or two double beds and are medium in size, and they are decorated in a modern fashion with beige carpets and white furniture. Rooms have an in-room safe, minibar and fridge, conditioning, and international TV. We had a room on the fifth floor, the executive floor, which meant that we had tea and coffeemaking facilities and robes and towels. The room also featured a good working desk and comfy chair. The bathroom was beautifully appointed with a large bath and separate shower cubicle, and the shower was fantastic, although it was easy to flood the bathroom floor.

Each floor also has a complimentary coffee machine and seating area outside the lifts. A good security feature is that you need your room key to gain access to the lifts, and hence, accommodation floors. The hotel is in a quiet and safe neighbourhood, and the rooms are very quiet, allowing you to get a peaceful night’s sleep! The staff is very helpful and polite, and they speak very good English. Check-in time starts after 3pm and check-out is at noon, although we got our room at 11:30am.

The hotel has a bar and restaurant. The restaurant serves a good range of international and local cuisine at reasonable prices, and the bar also features a varied snack menu, as well as drinks, at reasonable prices. They are not as cheap as other places in Prague, but cheaper than other European hotels. Breakfast is included in most accommodation deals and is of an okay standard with a selection of breads, hams, cheeses, drinks, etc., as well as hot items that are slightly unusual, like sweet corn with bacon! It’s an interesting variation on a theme.

The main centre of Prague is approximately a 20-minute walk away, although you can hop on the metro a 2-minute walk away form the hotel and travel all around the city very quickly and cheaply, with a weekly ticket costing les than £7 per person.

In the local area, there is a large shopping centre with a good supermarket, smaller shops, and cafés. There is also a cinema behind the hotel that shows films in English, and there are some good restaurants, including those serving Mexican, Czech, and Italian. Check out the Jet Set cocktail bar for cheap cocktails and drinks (just around the corner from the hotel)!
