I found Seattle very dangerous. I don't mean that there was street crime--I mean that I wanted to stay forever. The city's lively outer neighborhoods of Fremont, Ballard, and Wallingford snagged me for good, and I can't wait to go back to Seattle, even in the rain.

The Seattle University area (the "U. District") is a unique village within Seattle. It has always obeyed different laws, heeded different drummers, and protected different fauna. It's a mingling point for travelers and adventurers, a good place from which to explore Seattle.

When I decided to go to Vancouver to attend the IgoUgo Get Together, I thought, "Cool! I can go to Seattle and catch a Mariner's game!" Like an addict, I needed a serious baseball fix, and going to the Mariners game on a sunny September afternoon fit the bill.

As far as food is concerned, Seattle may be best known for its salmon-throwing fishmongers at Pike Place Market and the Ivar's "Keep Clam" signs--but vegetarians will still find plenty of options.

My company held an all-hands meeting in Seattle. A few of us took vacation days and went out early. My preconceived notion was wet/rainy. I was wrong, the weather was great. It rained only one out of five days. Of course that was the day we went to the Space Needle. I really enjoyed Pike Place Market. We visited Pike Place Fist Market, the home of “Low Flying Fish”. We also enjoyed a cup of java at the original Starbucks. We had some great seafood and oysters at Elliott’s Oyster House. The oyster selection was amazing.

Last year, I was one of the millions whose hopes for celebrating a special birthday collapsed with the towers in New York. This year my husband was determined to make it up to me and surreptitiously invited a friend to join me on an Autumn cruise in the Pacific Northwest.
