At over 2,000 feet above sea level, the light in Madrid is unusual, magic and brilliant. This fantistic city of kings, artists and incredibly vibrant people. It must be impossible to be bored here. Even a bus ride gives you so much to see. Bravo! Spain is very hot and very dry in the summer. Make your plans accordingly. I live in a hot, dry place so it was something like home. If you live in Scotland, visit in the fall or spring.

Madrid has some of the best art museums of any city in Europe. Experience the beauty and peace of the Real Jardin Botanico and tastings at La Trucha. Staying at budget Hotel Astoria made this visit to Madrid very affordable.

“Nobobdy went to bed here until they had killed the night” Ernest Hewingway. Madrid is bustling during the day but most of the excitement does not start until after midnight and lasts well beyond dawn.
