We spent a fortnight in Jamaica, spending the first week in Ocho Rios and the second in Negril. We had a fantastic trip, but organize tours locally and not from five-star hotels to see the real Jamaica.

Ok... I am not a big fan of package trips. However, having heard so many scare stories about Jamaica, we booked a hotel/flight deal to Negril for some rest and relaxation. Yeah... right!

Negril is absolutely beautiful. There's something in Jamaica for everyone, but this is not the place if you are looking for seclusion. There's lots of nightlife, entertainment, music, and fun.

The food is definitely overpriced for value, but the cliff-jumping was VERY fun, and the sunset was absolutely breathtaking. There is live reggae, and the locals hanging out there made for a very cultural experience.

Negril, Jamaica, was the best vacation I could have asked for. It was the perfect balance of a calm and relaxed atmosphere with just enough excitement.

We went to Couples Negril in Jamaica and were hit by Hurricane Ivan. For four days, we did not have power, water, air, or sewage. I didn't get a shower, toilets overflowed, and the hotel won't refund any of my $3,000.
