Wanting a weekend getaway, I planned a trip to one of my favorite cities, Boston, with a friend. The trip was short – only 48 hours – and cold – the temperature stayed below freezing – but it was still a great chance to revisit one of my favorite destinations.

What a fabulous time of the year to visit this great city! I was in town for a conference, so I had to squeeze in my sightseeing into short segments. But I managed to see a lot, and do a lot of eating.

We often visit Boston, sometimes just for the day or evening, and sometimes we treat ourselves and spend a night or two. It's a nice small city that's easy to get around either by metro (MTA), cabs, or even walking.

"The Literary Trail" promised 3 half-hour stops out of the bus and 14 other sights, narrated by the Boston History Collaborative. This was the first date for the three-hour tour that is planned for the second Saturday of every month.
