- We arrived in this charming and popular holiday resort town perched high on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Naxos on Easter Sunday. With runaway bougainvillea, citris trees and silvery olive branches and terraces of red geraniums, it is easy to see why this is Sicily's most desirable destination.

- In April /May 2007 I spent 3 weeks in Sicily to study Italian. I stayed at Hotel Villa Nettuno and interviewed the owners.

- My latest travel adventure: three weeks in Sicily to get to know this beautiful historic island and to learn Italian in another cultural immersion experiment.

- Taormina, the Sicilian village, is a privileged vantage point during Saint Lawrence´s night for being witness to a marvellous spectacle.

- In the famous Sicilian town of Taormina, where hotels are no surprise, there is this one amazing hilltop location that has a view to Etna Mountain. It is owned by Simple Minds leader Jim Kerr. It is a friendly, beautifully designed spot. It is also glamorous but has the typical Sicilian-family atmosphere. I'll go back.

- Villa Ducale is magical. A restored aristocratic villa awash in flowers and Sicilian charm, with stunning views, a terrific staff, and exceptional accommodations. Set above Taormina, it feels like a private hideaway but is very convenient to town. We’ve stayed here four times and cannot recommend Villa Ducale highly enough!

- Much written about Taormina reeks of hype and I feared finding it a let down after a wonderful 9 days travelling around Sicily. Not at all. NO HYPE. All the praise is totally deserved. The setting and views are outstanding and as for the Greek theatre, words are insufficient.

- Taormina is one of the most beautiful towns on the East coast of Sicily. It's clifftop location with secluded beaches below provide the perfect setting for a relaxing vacation.

- Sicily is a unique place, utterly different from any other place in the world. It can be wild and chaotic and has some of the most spectacular natural features anywhere. Some of my experiences were wonderful - some were just funny!
