- Some may think they know what this is going to be about, but this is a different kind of spring break, including a little shopping.

- I go to South Padre Island pretty much every summer, because I have family down in that area. Therefore, I am very familiar with many goings-on around the island. Let me share a little bit of it with you...

- Unfortunately, South Padre Island is mainly known for the crowd it draws during spring break every year and loses credit as a great family destination. Hopefully this journal will help reverse that label and inform you about the best seafood restaurants the island has to offer.

- We rented a two-bedroom condo on the Gulf of Mexico in South Padre Island, Texas, for the month of January. We had a fantastic and busy month of warmth and relaxation. It was wonderful to escape the cold Kansas January weather.

- A great surprise to get an island feel while still in the States. The beach is beautiful. There's plenty to do that can be bartered for, and lots to do if you are interested. Or you can just hang on the beach. I go to Beef Eaters on Port Isabell--it's next to the more expensive seafood restaurant.
