- Staying with friends for several weeks in their beautiful home close to the Plage de la Madrague in Biarritz (well, technically Anglet) I was able to experience the chic side of this somewhat touristy (at least in the summer months) resort town.

- Biarritz is a sleepy French surf town that is featured in the Endless Summer. My surferboy, Ben, made that a must-see on our trek through Europe. I am glad he did, because the beaches, the people and the ambiance made it well worth the trip.

- This town of approximately 30,000 can swell to 125,000 during summer and was the first leg of our two-part journey through France. It was not just the realization of schoolbook text, but an awakening into an established culture that so welcomed us!
