After a week in Flagstaff, we chose to spend our final Arizona weekend in perhaps one of the most beautiful communities in Northern Arizona. We were blessed with perfect spring weather.

Touring the national monuments of Montezuma Castle, Well and Tuzigoot I too was fascinated by the enigma of the long-departed Sinagua tribes. Perhaps they foresaw the coming of vortex tour groups, Hummer drives in the desert and strip malls and realized that escape was the smart thing to do.

On a high desert road trip taking I-17, we sidetrip onto SR89 near Flagstaff, traversing switchbacks and heading down Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona, Arizona. Where are we? North Carolina to a painted desert in only a few miles! The fun only begins!
