Cowboy Capital

Created by Katie Morgan on July 8, 2000

  • Bandera is truly the cowboy capital of the Texan Hill Country. Home to dude ranches and tucked away golf courses, this is authentic Texas from the sports to the cuisine. It is home to regular rodeos, saloons, shopping, and a lazy section of the Medina River where you can go tubing.

  • I just returned from visiting the Hill Country in Texas. Enjoy a 45-minute drive to the border of San Antonio and other quaint towns along picturesque back roads. The local townspeople we met were outgoing and extremely friendly.

Move to Texas

  • What a neat place, and it is easy to find! This is where we purchased our new home. We had to cross a little stream to get to the unit. We saw seven deer one night coming back. Neat!

Get away to the Hill Country of Texas

Created by Kennith on March 25, 2004

  • This destination is a quiet, restful getaway with rustic a atmosphere that's close to many wonderful activities in San Antonio. Bandera has cowboy looks with Silver Dollar Saloon/dance halls, antique shops, and Medina River for tubing or canoes. Not far is Grueen with great dining at the Grist Mill.

Bandera Homestead

Created by Dbrunson on October 1, 2003

  • Bandera is located roughly 45 miles from San Antonio, a wonderful town to visit. We found that the drive seemed quite long but worthwhile. Best place to eat in Bandera is at Billy Jeans. Bandera is a friendly town, but there is not much to do there.
