Located ten miles off the midcoast of Maine, Monhegan Island is a popular destination for a quiet getaway. Accessible only by boat, there are no cars and no paved roads, but plenty of hiking trails, rocky coast, artists' studios, and photo opportunities. Come here for a taste of a simpler life.

Getting there is part of the adventure. Accessible only by boat, you'll travel aboard a passenger ferry. Visitors' cars aren't allowed on the island (neither are bicycles, motorcycles, or ATVs).

Monhegan Island is a unique place I visited. I often tell friends to visit. I think it's time I created a journal so that others can learn about it.
