Banner Elk is the place to be. Situated up in the mountains with tons of adventures awaiting. This has to be my FAVORITE place. There is nothing more beautiful than watching the leaves turn in the mountains.

My friends Lloyd and Doris traveled to NC with me in early September 2005. We enjoyed the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, the Andy Griffith Museum in Mt Airy, and the Carter Fold in Southern Virginia.

Although this is a good destination for winter skiing, we enjoyed it in the spring. Mt. Laurel was beautiful in flower.

If you are looking for a vacation spot that no one has ever heard of, try Banner Elk, North Carolina, in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains. Scenic and serene, there is plenty to see and do.

The location sounded ideal for exploring the Blue Ridge, but that was not to be.

The Highlands at Sugar Mountain is a great mountain retreat. It resides at the top of the ski mountain and it provides views of several surrounding counties.
