- You have been to Bangkok and have seen the big city, and maybe you went to Chiang Mai and saw the little city trying to become bigger. Now it's time to go to Chiang Rai and see what the countryside looks like.

- Most travelers take the long-tail boat on the Mae Kok River from Thaton to Chiangrai. The boats are crowded and very uncomfortable during the three-hour journey. If you start in Chiangrai, you will probably be the only one on the boat.

- My second visit to Chiang Rai, and this time, plenty of time to look around. From Chiang Rai, I visited Phu Sang National Park and Phu Chi Fa mountain, along with Doi Luang National Park on my way to south to Phayao, which I’ve included in my Phayao journal.

- After travelling extensively through Asia on a relatively beaten path, my girlfriend and I decided we wanted some ‘real’ adventure. So we made our way from Chiang Rai to Chiang Kong for the crossing from Northern Thailand to Huay Xai in Laos. We were to get more than we bargained for!
