- Tashkent, Uzbekistan: It is one of the most beautiful and most underrated cities in the world. Great places to eat, amazing nightlife, friendly people who are very welcoming to tourists, and peaceful political conditions are the highlights. And not to forget value for money!

- This is a very scenic city with mostly modern buildings due to a devastating earthquake in the 1960s.
Be aware that ATMs are unheard of, as are EFTPOS and credit card facilities in most areas.
Tashkent has fantastic potential for future tourism development, but it needs to be driven by its government.

- Visited Tashkent while deciding on a job opportunity in Central Asia. Beautiful but run-down city at the time; lots of construction under way. Fascinating place and mix of people - Uzbeks, Russians, and small German population.
