- I came to Ballarat as a day trip from Melbourne. There are some fine colonial buildings in the town, but the most famous attraction is Sovereign Hill.

- The range of retaurants here is quite pleasing. I recommend the Argentinian Grill house on Main Rd and the International Cuisine at Restaurant Da UDay (just off Main Road).

- Ballarat is an impressive pleasant city west of Melbourne. This area came to prominence in the 1850's with the discovery of gold. It was the largest goldstrike anyone had ever known. It's for this reason that this area played a key part in Australia's history.
