Nafplio is a pretty little town whose history includes a stint as the capital of Greece. Tourism is big business here, but wandering the narrow lanes of the old town amid beautiful old pastel buildings, it’s easy to find peace, quiet, and a strong sense of Greek pride.

Once the capital of Greece prior to Athens, today is a pleasant town for a day or overnight visit , with shops, restaurants, sites.

Nafplion may be the most beautiful town in Greece. Its pastel-colored buildings sit perched on a hill above a lovely port. There are forts in the hills above and a fort in the middle of the water below. It's truly paradise.

We rented a car in Athens and drove to Nafplio to spend a day and a half there. It was truly too short, but it was definitely worth the trip.

Nafplion is not a known tourist mecca, but a historical city with picturesque beaches makes it a treasure untouched by many tourists
