- The Monterey Peninsula has long been one of our favorite destinations. It has
natural beauty and very pleasant dining opportunities. Just 2 hours south of
San Francisco, it is an ideal place to break away, especially for those who can do so during the off-season.

- From historic missions to literary legacies, from chi-chi Carmel residences to the down-home, rural allure of Salinas, this California peninsula resists definition by mere cliques. To call her raging ocean, astonishing mountain vistas, deserts, redwood forests, and gorgeous vineyards "stunning, awesome, beautiful, fabulous" simply fails. Pulchritudinous comes to mind...

- ANOTHER place we can't wait to get back to! Three days was not enough to see and do everything. Oh well, we'll just have to go back!

- I lived in Fort Ord when I was a child. I have grand memories of the beautiful California coastline, and running the Big Sur Marathon along one of the most famous highways in the United States, Hwy 1, was a soulful experience that felt to me like coming home.

- Since my husband and I are both SCUBA divers, we have stayed in Monterey many-many times. We live in Northern California and frequently take our students to Monterey for checkout dives. It is also a wonderful place for non-divers to enjoy romantic weekends.

- I lived in Monterey for nine years so I thought I might put together a journal with my take on all the best places to eat, drink, and have fun.
