Overlooked Oceanside -North of San Diego

With the widest beaches on the North Coast, Oceanside, for so long only a " Marine On Leave town", has been revamping itself in a serious bid for tourism. An historic Mission, great beach with amphitheatre for concerts, new Art Museum, well-equipped fishing pier, and revitalized downtown -all bid for tourist attention.

Terribly disappointed with our resort. No pool. Spa was broken. No air conditioning so room was hot. Paid for daily parking even though resort had ample parking room in basement.

We spent a week at Oceanside over Easter last year. It was out first trip to Oceanside even though we have been to California many times. We made side trips to San Diego, Los Angeles, Disneyland and many small towns around the area.

We went on a trip this summer to southern California and stayed at the Southern California Beach Resort. We wanted a beach location with access to the many sites around San Diego and LA.

The area from southern Orange County to Northern San Diego county, along California's sunny coast holds several timeshares to call home while exploring the surrounding area. One of the best places to stay is the California Beach Club located ON the beach in Oceanside. Ten minutes farther south is the Carlsbad Inn across the street from the ocean. Within 30 minutes you have access to Wild Animal Park in Escondido, Mission San Luis Rey, Quail Botanical Gardens, Legoland, flower fields, and charming villages to stroll and shop in.
