- We traveled for 20 days through the Indonesian island of Java, the most populous island in the world and home to a few of its largest cities. Nevertheless, there is still natural beauty and history to discover here.

- These days tourists have to be extra vigilant, not only in Indonesia but in all countries. Semarang, central Java, is not a tourist destination, and quite safe to visit. However, you need not go there yourself, sit back, take a virtual trip and read this journal.

- This is an introduction to Java, the most densely populated place in the world. The large patches of modern development on this tropical island cannot blot out the beauty of the landscapes of stepped rice and tobacco fields and smoking volcanos, and so you must spend some time here on your travels to Indonesia. The traditional sights along the roadside will delight as you fly by on fast buses that loom over the peasants. These journals will take you on short trips to Temple Borobodur and Prambanan, then on a suspenseful midnight trip to the lava flows on Mount Merapi and on an overnight to the picturesque volcano, Mount Bromo. For rest we will tour the highly recommended city of Yogyakarta where you can take a horse cart through the streets to the sultan's historic residence, the Kraton, or to a puppet show.

- My Indonesia adventure began in Jakarta and took me through West Java to Cibodas, then down to the South Java Sea to a beach town called Pangandaran. From there I went on to Yogyakarta and finally, Mt. Bromo in the East.
