- Lithuania’s verdant capital contains a stunning array of ornate churches in its UNESCO-listed baroque Old Town, excellent museums, and a quirky atmosphere that is at once sophisticated and charmingly provincial. Consequently, it’s one of the nicest and most rewarding places to visit – anywhere.

- Arriving in Vilnius by air, one is greeted by a large tarmac apron far in excess of the air traffic now supported. It is a leftover from the Soviet era, when Vilnius was a rather large Russian airbase.

- Vilnius was the last of the capitals on our ciruit of the Baltic States. Despite our worries of cultural overkill Vilnius was so different to the other cities--it has a much more cosmopolitan makeup and offers an incredible mixture of European and Russian/Soviet architecture and culture.
