- In mid-May, the weather may not always cooperate enough to spend time on the beach, but there are many other things to do on the Outer Banks. It is an excellent time of year to visit if you wish to avoid the normal tourist crowd crush, which begins Memorial Day.

- Kitty Hawk is a wonderful destination for families. It is especially wonderful in the off season when the crowds are gone and you can have all the attractions to yourself.

- We had a very enjoyable relaxing vacation week in September. We stayed at the Barrier Island Resort in Kitty Hawk.

- I spent a week at the Barrier Islands Kitty Hawk resort August 19 to August 26, 2005. My group included adults as well as children ages 8 to 14 years. We had a great time fishing, dining, bowling, putting and relaxing.

- Hurricane Wilma interrupted our long weekend in the Outer Banks, but we enjoyed ourselves, anyway! This was primarily a visit to see other timeshare resorts in the area for a trip we plan for April of 2006.

- A narrow strip of land serviced by one main road, it hosts several funky tourist towns, numerous fine-dining establishments, a couple of historic lighthouses, and miles and miles of glorious sandy beaches.

- What you see is not what you get! Advertised units on the Barrier Island-Kitty Hawk website may not be what you get. We ended up with a much smaller unit than advertised. Never saw the jacuzzi in the master bedroom; didn't even have an oven.

- The Barrier Island Station - Kitty Hawk was a wonderful way to enjoy the Outer Banks' natural, wooded beauty, as well as the area's coastal attractions.
