- I didn't have much time to see Melbourne, so I spent a day wandering just to see what was around.

- Melbourne was a good base for road trips, but I wasn't all that impressed otherwise. But many people love it.

- I found Melbourne a very enjoyable city and hope I'll be able to visit again. Of the major cities I visited in Australia (Sydney, Brisbane) Melbourne easily had the most character was the most interesting. It was also incredibly comfortable for a city of its size.

- Business takes me to Melbourne, from Sydney most weeks and there are many things to do and see in this beautiful garden city built on Port Philip Bay featuring trams, historic and modern architecture, wonderful restaurants, sporting venues and fashionable shopping and very cosmopolitan blend of people.

- Melbourne was formerly the capital of Australia, and it still stands as the capital of the state of Victoria. Melbourne gained prominence when it hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics.
