- Being an IgoUgo’s Hot Destination, I made a detour to Mendoza while traveling in Argentina, and found not exactly what I was waiting for.

- I already mentioned in another report the sky-high prices of Las Leñas, a beautiful ski resort. Mendoza is an important city, and does not have those excessive prices, but still is more expensive than Mar del Plata, Bariloche or Iguazu. Here are some tips for saving money.

- This tour is a thrilling experience. There are vineyards, you border the Mendoza river for many miles, the Uspallata valley, visit historical places, the thermal waters al puente del Inca, the penitentes ski center and chair lift and finally the Aconcagua, that is 23,500 feet high.

- I visited the Atuel Canyon for the first time in 1967, and was fascinated by its beauty. It resembles the scenery of some Far West movies. I walked ten miles along the canyon, trying to fish trout, and really enjoyed the scenery.

- I was on my way to Las Leñas, and had a free afternoon at Mendoza, so I hired a taxi for 30 dollars and set off to the Vallecitos ski center. The road was blocked by the snow, but I really enjoyed the trip.

- If you every want to really enjoy the scenery while you are eating, this is the ideal place where to eat. Conveniently located half a mile away from the village, with a fantastic panoramic view.

- I lived three and a half years in Mendoza and really enjoyed it, but due to work I had to emmigrate to Buenos Aires. It is the land of sunshine, vineyards, and of the highest mountains in the American continent.

- Las Lenas is the most modern (and most expensive) ski center in Argentina. However, prices vary drastically from July to august and drop further as from September. It is a paradise for those who love ski (you can come down 7 miles at one time), it is small but beautiful.

- Many travelers sometimes search for great places or experiences, but they forget to explore their own locations. As someone who lives in Mendoza, I'm quite impressed with the amazing growth of wine country hotels, posadas, and wineries with lodging that my town offers.

- Ruta 7, from Mendoza to Chile across the Andes, is a fantastic, must-see journey. Follow in the footsteps of San Martin the Liberator, whose 3000-men march across the Andes helped free Chile and Peru 200 years ago!
