- Canberra is a purpose built capital. Situated around Lake Burley Griffin it possesses the right degree of dignity considering it contains Australia’s seat of Government, High Court and many of the nation's museums, the Australian Mint and many embassies.

- We just stayed overnight on our way from Melbourne to Sydney. It is nice enough for a stopover between the two cities, but the town is quite boring, so I wouldn't linger here too long.

- An interesting city for sure, but not really worth more than 2 or 3 days, and do it mid-week - certainly don't waste a weekend here when Sydney beckons.

- Canberra during the winter can be quite cool by Australian standards, but our week in this city proved to be invigorating, refreshing, and enjoyable.
Our week was not long enough to allow us time to explore all that Canberra has to offer... a sure sign that a return visit is necessary!
