- Hopefully I'll be visiting Haarlem several times during my stay here, so I'll be adding to this journal as I go.

- I studied abroad and lived in Haarlem for six months in 2003. A great place to visit to experience a more typical Dutch town than Amsterdam. Only 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam and 10 minutes from the beach in Zandvoort.

- Great Dutch city to visit off the beaten tourist track. Relax by day, have fun at night.

- Haarlem is a city full of charm. It is very close to Amsterdam, and so can be visited in a day. The atmosphere is very relaxing and ambient - very easy to just sit and watch the world go by, while sipping coffee.

- This journal is about my own hometown Haarlem. A nice alternative to crowded Amsterdam.

- After studing abroad in Haarlem for six months in 2001, I can give an excellent review of how wonderful a city it is. Only 20 minutes by train from Amsterdam, its a perfect day trip for those seeking a relaxing change of pace.

- Haarlem is a friendly Dutch town 20 minutes by train from Amsterdam. But while Amsterdam has a somewhat foreboding feeling, what with all of the warnings about crime and shoplifters, Haarlem has the ambiance of a small and happy village.
