Four days in Athens

Four days is more than sufficient to see the main attractions of Athens. The ancient city, that is the remains of it, is the most interesting. Highlights are the famous Acropolis with the Ancient Agora and the Plaka at its feet. The view from the beautiful and peaceful Filopappos Hill is mesmerizing. Find a nice spot overlooking Athens and have a picnic Modern Athens is much less a treat. The architecture reflects the incredible rate in which the city has grown in the past 150 years. Without inspiration the vast plain around the old and strong heart has been clogged up with plain, dull buildings as far as the eye can see. After seeing the highlights, don’t linger. As charming and impressive as the old city is, as uninviting is the vast modern part.

Most guidebooks recommend ONLY spending a couple of days in this ancient city...and for a reason. There's definitely some "must see's" in Athens, but you'll need to prepare to take the good with the bad. In coming here, once was enough. NO VUELVERE - I will not return!
