- Charles the Fat held a diet in Colmar in 884 AD.That, punny as it is, was reason enough for us to visit! And Colmar, a very convenient day trip from Strasbourg, with its leafy parks, canals, pretty half-timbered houses, old statues and magnificent buildings was worth it.

- Located in the Alsace wine region, Colmar is a quaint little town with many charming half-timbered houses. The folksy village so attracted erstwhile Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir, that he decided to re-reate this little town in Bukit Tinggi (40 minutes from Malaysia's capital - Kuala Lumpur), as a holiday resort.

- Colmar, one of those little towns I always remembered just as a general direction pointing to Switzerland while driving across France. It's really just off the border, yet it took an English friend's recommendation for me to go there.
