We stayed at the Worldmark Resort in Angels Camp which is located southeast of Sacramento. The area is full of quaint mining towns, rural farm areas, and lush views of the Sierra Madres. You can do a lot or little, as you choose.

Angels Camp?, I asked myself. Where in the world is it? "Surprise, surprise, surprise," as Gomer Pyle used to say. In a nutshell, Angels Camp is the perfect place to visit if you're interested in visiting San Francisco, Sacramento, Yosemite, the Sierras, Big Sur, and Lake Tahoe.

Calaveras County offers a goldmine of activities and attractions. During our week there we hiked through giant sequoia groves, explored a cave, visited Yosemite National park, saw a Shakespearean play, tasted wines, and still had lots of time to relax.
