- Three buddies and I plan a Big Ten football weekend each fall, usually starting with a round of golf on Friday afternoon, obviously including the game on Saturday, and then returning home on Sunday, while sampling the local nightlife in between.

- I live in Iowa City and have recently started volunteering at the Museum of Natural History there. This journal is about what is going on there at the moment and all the bad stuff a small university museum goes through during budget cuts.

- I try to take a photography class at least once a year, often in the summer. Unable to find a class at any of the local community colleges, I decided to go to the University of Iowa and take a photography workshop offered through the Iowa Summer Writing Festival.
