Take the bus from Locarno station to Brignasco and change for the Postbus to Fusio. Alight at Mogno and visit the stunning Mario Botta church. Forty minutes woodland walk brings you to picturesque Fusio. Take a Ticinese meal at the friendly restaurant before returning to the warmth of Locarno.

Ascona is a wonderful village on Lake Maggiore. It is literally car-free, so you can sit outside in one of the many alfresco restaurants, sip a cup of coffee, and just enjoy people-watching. Try the pizza at the restaurant Nostrana or a gourmet meal at Al Porto.
