- It took General U.S. Grant 47 days to take this Confederate stronghold on the Mississippi River. Today, the historic city and its neighbor to the east can keep you occupied for several days. Together, Vicksburg and Jackson give this history buff plenty to rave about.

- Workamping at the Meridian East Toomsuba, MS KOA we went in search of some local interest. Here are some of the things we found to do in a state not often heard about. Enjoy seeing old mills, yesteryear country stores and pretty river scenery, these are enjoyable side trips.

- Tunica... what can you say? If you love high quality entertainment and the excitement of gambling, this is the place!! Add the town's southern hospitality, the factory outlet malls and seeing big, white, fluffy cotton balls growing in the fields; it all adds up to a perfect weekend getaway spot!

- Driving from Atlanta to Dallas, we stopped at the halfway point in Jackson, MS to learn more about the history of the South and to indulge ourselves for the night at a beautiful bed and breakfast.
