- From raging ocean crashes to startling mountain vistas, through high chaparral, scented eucalyptus and ancient redwood forests, this section of coastal wilderness affords more concentrated and glorious spectacles than should be reasonably allocated any singular county. Birds of prey, sea lions, otters, and whales apparently love it, as well.

- The awe-inspiring Highway 1 cliff-side route through Big Sur is consistently rated as one of the most beautiful ocean drives in the World. Ride with me as I chart my course through its 100 miles of spectacular beauty on a voyage of discovery.

- No matter how many times I take the drive down Highway 1 to the Big Sur Coast, (and there have been many) I am always in awe of its wild, rugged and rapturous beauty. Read on and surrender to the spell of Big Sur!

- The lure of Big Sur. I'd often heard this was a magical place but found out for myself recently on a trip with my boyfriend. He has been out there several times and was my guide.

- Beautiful views and landscapes made this little vacation remarkable. My boyfriend and I stopped by in Carmel to grab a bite to eat and then headed off to Hearst Castle. Afterwards, we drove up Big Sur and soaked up the scenery. Our destination point: Inn at Morro Bay. We wanted this trip to be a simple romantic getaway, and that's exactly what we had.

- It was a cloudy day in Northern California. The waves were crashing against the rocks on our drive along Highway 1 heading towards Santa Barbara. We crossed the Bixby Bridge with not another car in sight, and had lunch at Rocky Point with endless views of the ocean.

- Many lighthouses are not in a condition to permit visitors to climb up the lighthouse itself. The Point Sur Lighthouse can be accessed by the inside spiral staircase.
