- With one of the country’s oldest artist communities and an active fishing fleet, the major industry in Rockport is now tourism. The year-round population of 7000 swells as high at 20,000 in the summer. But what would it look like in February?

- We had a wonderful week at the oceanfront Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine. The location is on the breathtaking Penobscot Bay. The 18 hole Oceanside championship golf course is something to behold. Rockland Maine now has its own Windjammer boats at the new dock located in the Harbor.

- We went to the Samoset Resort in early spring. It is truly a golf resort but they have tennis courts, and a very good exercise facility with a large indoor pool and 2 hot pools. This is a beautiful spot with views of Penobscot Bay along with two lighthouses.

- A week away allows you to refresh and continue on for the winter months. The Rockport area of Maine offers year-round activites for all family members. It's a short drive to Canada from here for even more fun.

- If you like antiques and old architecture, this is the place to go. Rockport is close to a lot of great antique stores of all types for you pottery fans, Roseville that is hard to find. Old estate and manor homes that are over 100-150-years-old can be seen everywhere.
