- Seven islands (Lipari, Alicudi, Filicudi, Panarea, Salina, Stromboli, and Vulcano) comprise the archipelago known as the Aeolian Islands. Located off the northeast corner of Sicily, each island has its own unique feel and geological features because they are each composed of volcanic rock and lava from many different epochs.
