- We are fortunate to own timeshares, making vacations in Hawaii very affordable. When we come to the islands, we try to do it for two weeks, every-other-year. This is our fourth trip as a two-weeker to Hawaii since 2003.

- During our week on the Big Island, we spent a couple of days on the Hilo side of the island in the Puna Region where lush tropical rain forests and an active volcano are the main sights.

- Oahu is the most developed of the Hawaiian Islands, with a real urban vibe. You don't need to go far, however, to enjoy the tropical paradise of sun and beaches. This was our first trip back since 12/05 using the timeshare that we own on Waikiki, as the perfect homebase.

- My husband and I visited the Islands of Maui and Kauai in 2009. We spent 4 nights in Maui (3/30-4/2) and then took an InterIsland flight to Kauai for three nights (4/3-4/5). We then returned to Maui for one more night (4/6) before flying back to Dallas.

- This is a review of places to stay on Maui. According to my guidebook Pidgin dictionary, the phrase for "make yourself at home" is simply ‘make house’. With that in mind, I hope this helps you make house on Maui.

- There are some excellent hikes on Maui with waterfalls, bamboo forests and scenery. Then there are others to avoid. Take a look.
