- After a week in Flagstaff, we chose to spend our final Arizona weekend in perhaps one of the most beautiful communities in Northern Arizona. We were blessed with perfect spring weather.

- While vacationing in Flagstaff, Arizona we planned a two day getaway to the Grand Canyon National Park. Overnighting in the park allowed us to maximize our limited time there, something I would recommend to anyone considering a visit to the Grand Canyon.

- We were here in 2005 and have returned to take in more of what Northern Arizona is known for. This journal will focus exclusively on Flagstaff. Look for separate journals on the Grand Canyon and Sedona . . . also part of this weeklong vacation!

- Touring the national monuments of Montezuma Castle, Well and Tuzigoot I too was fascinated by the enigma of the long-departed Sinagua tribes. Perhaps they foresaw the coming of vortex tour groups, Hummer drives in the desert and strip malls and realized that escape was the smart thing to do.

- I’d heard mostly negatives things about Phoenix, mainly that it’s a fairly soulless city comprising indistinguishable malls that sprawl into the desert. On a recent business trip I found that most of what I had heard rang true, but I found some solace in the local cuisine.
