- Wadi Hadramawt, 700km east of Sana'a is a world of its own. Walled desert cities, verdant oases, mud tower houses and palaces that need to be seen to be believed.

- Ma'rib is the ancient capital of the kingdom of Saba and it has the monuments to prove it. But it could also have once been the home of the Queen of Sheba - if you like.

- "Yemen!...on your own...are you mad? What if you get kidnapped?" Well, I'm not, and I didn't. It was a most excellent place, with stunning and unique landscapes, generous and welcoming people, and one of the worst cases of plastic-bag pollution I've ever seen. Not for the nervous, either!

- Every so often we come upon a place so extraordinary, so seperate from the rest of the world, that it seems unreal. Arabia Felix, Yemen, is such a place. This once was a so properous country of large incense and spice-routes, the famous empire of the Queen of Sheba and the home-land of the three wise men (the Epiphany).
