- Trapped between two giants, Uruguay can be more than a crossing point between Argentina and Brazil. It offers beautiful beaches alongside the Uruguay and Plate rivers and by the ocean, a beautiful capital with amazing early 20th-century architecture, a rare hybrid Spanish-Portuguese colonial city, and a generally relaxed ambience.

- Montevideo's history is littered with wars. It was created as a buffer state (almost a city state) between Argentina and Brazil.

- First impressions of Montevideo harbor are extremely positive. On the quay are various historical artifacts relating to the shipping that has passed through these waters, the most famous being the Graf Spee which was scuttled by its admiral during the Second World war.
