My oldest son and I decided to take a trip together to see family in NC. Along the way, we saw a Natural Bridge and learned some Civil War history. We took a step back in time by visiting Mayberry, NC and watched some BASE jumpers in WV.

The MidWest in Autum is a great place for a mini vacation. I linked five towns (Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Galena, Quasqueton and the Lake Okobiji area) and enjoyed the mild Fall weather and the changing color of the landscape.

While western Nebraska may be mostly rural and its landscape dotted with rolling hills and farmlands, we still found things to do. We visited a couple Oregon Trail landmarks, a fossil bed, and the World's largest rail yard in North Platte.

My wife planned a surprise birthday weekend road trip giving us the opportunity to visit places we’ve seen advertised on highway billboards but never had the time to visit. This was a fun weekend of natural wonders, museums, and roadside attractions – including a full-scale styrofoam replica of Stonehenge!



Trip to Virginia

We spent a week in Virginia, travelling round the Shenandoah region. We used Harrisonburg as our base and visited attractions around the area including the famous Skyline Drive. This was a fantastic trip and one I would highly recommend.

Trip to South Carolina including a day in Savannah Georgia. We stayed in a place called Santee and used this as our base and then travelled around the area.

Indiana has the third largest Amish population in the United States, behind Pennsylvania and Ohio. I spent three days exploring the Amish communities located in NW Indiana learning more about a culture that fascinates me and observing them as they go about living the simple life.
