According to the official Geneva Web site, the city’s home to over 200 international organisations. In about five hours, we saw a Russian Church and an English garden; dined at a café where we were served by an Indian, and went past another where Bill Clinton dined. Cosmopolitan? You bet.

Despite having spent a couple of years regularly visiting Zürich, I had never got around to seeing Geneva. So, with my connection to Switzerland about to end, spending the New Year's break in the city felt like a very good idea to me.

Too often just a gateway to nearby ski resorts or Swiss business trip destination, Geneva, especially the lakeside, has much more to offer - Parisian-style streets with glorious architecture, magnificent views from the tower of a sparkling gothic cathedral, museums and galleries, top class restaurants and all kept spick and span.
